Für den Rest des Monats hoffe ich, dass es bald wieder schön ist und man den Juni als Wonnemonat bezeichnen kann, wenn es schon der Mai nicht sein sollte.

Looking at the garden, it may not look like a whole lot yet. But looking at the finer detail, it is a competely different picture.

Ich freue mich schon auf die nächsten Wochen und Monate. Das Spiel der Natur fasziniert mich jedes Jahr aufs Neue.

I am so looking forward to the coming weeks and months. Nature’s game fascinates me each year again and again.

Ich  hatte versprochen, immer wieder mal im Blog über unsere verschiedenen Ausflüge während unseres Urlaubs zu berichten. Leider war ich recht schreibfaul im vergangenen Jahr. Heute möchte ich das nachholen.

Eindrücke vom Garten von Marihn in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern möchte ich euch heute zeigen. Leider war das Wetter nicht so toll an dem Tag, aber Spass hatten wir trotzdem. Ich hoffe, der Spaziergang gefällt euch. Leider war die Rosenblüte gerade zu Ende. Vor 3 Jahren wurde dort ein Schaugarten mit Rosen von David Austin angelegt. Schon die verblühten Rosen lassen die Pracht erahnen, die einen im Juni erwartet.Ich glaube, es ist einer von zwei David Austin Schaugärten in Deutschland.

I promised to blog about the daily excursions during our vacation in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in July last year.  I was rather lazy as far as blogging was concerned last year. Today I want to make up for it.

Impressions from the Garden of Marihn in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern I would like to show you today. Tthe weather was not so great on the day of our visit, but we had fun anyways. I hope you enjoy this little walk through the garden. Unfortunately, the roses had just stopped blooming since we visited in late July and it had been a rainy month. 3 years ago  a show garden with roses from David Austin was created there with thousands of roses. Even when looking at the faded roses one can imagine the magnificence that a visitor may expect to see in June. I believe the Garden of Marihn is one of only two David Austin show gardens in Germany.

Im Pavillon sind regelmässig kleinere Kunstausstellungen. Als wir hier waren, wurden kunstvolle Wandteppiche ausgestellt.

Stellt euch vor, die Sonne würde scheinen und alle David Austin Rosen blühen. Trotz bedecktem Himmel war es ein wirklich schöner Besuch.

Imagine the sun shining and all of the David Austin roses are blooming. Even though the weather was not all that great, it was still a wonderful experience to visit there.

Nicht nur Rosen gibt es im Garten von Marihn, auch einen landwirtschaftlichen Teil findet man dort. Auch der Gemüsegarten ist wunderschön angelegt.

The visitor will not only find a rose garden. There is also a huge vegetable garden there which is landscaped beautifully as well.

It forces us to quiet down, reflect, and it is a time to enjoy other spare time activities besides gardening.

The New Year started without any silly resolutions, but an open mind  for new and exciting things in my life whatever they may be. I’m ready.

Finally, snow arrived which we didn’t have at Christmas. The camera on my side I dared a walk around the garden to take some shots. I do admit – I feel like getting my hands dirty and can’t wait to see the first snowdrops pushing themselves through the frozen ground. What about you?

Wahrscheinlich bekommt ihr heute nicht, was ihr sonst von mir erwartet. Es geht nicht um Garten. Aber da gibt es auch nicht mehr so viel zu sehen. Am Wochenende wurde “aufgeräumt” und außer bunten Blättern an den Sträuchern blieb nicht so viel übrig.

In unserem kleinen Städtchen gibt es ein riesiges Gelände, auf dem sich eine Spinnerei befand, die bis vor ca. 2 Jahren noch dem Verfall preisgegeben war. Ich bin ganz begeistert, wie diese ehemalige Ruine, restauriert wird. Zwar denke ich, dass es etwas überdimensioniert ist für unsere Stadt, aber es fasziniert mich. Da ich mich nicht nur für Gärten interessiere, sondern auch “moderne” Bauten, nahm ich heute mal die Gelegenheit wahr, dort zu fotografieren.

Mit Spannung erwarte ich den weiteren Ausbau der Gebäude. Ich kann mir sehr gut vorstellen, dass dort auch tolle Lofts entstehen. Es ist den Architekten sehr gut gelungen, das Alte zu bewahren und mit neuen Ideen ein Gelände mit seinen für unsere Stadt historischen Gebäuden, die sonst verfallen wären, für unsere Stadt wieder attraktiv zu restaurieren.

Today you will probably not get what you usually expect from me. It’s not about the garden. However, there isn’t much to see there at the moment. We took the opportunity this weekend to do some “clean-up” and except for colorful leaves on the bushes you’d probably be disappointed if you had a chance to have a look there.

In our small town there is a huge site on which there was a spinning mill once. It was abandoned until about 2 years  ago. I am very excited as this ruin is restored. While I think it is a bit too large of a project for our city, it fascinates me quite a bit. Since I am interested not only in gardens but also “modern” buildings, today I took advantage of the opportunity to take some pictures there.

I eagerly await the further expansion of the other building they are working on at the moment. I can very well imagine that there will be lofts to live in there. So far the architects have succeeded very well restoring the old and using new ideas restoring a site with historic buildings which are important for our city that would otherwise be left to fall into disrepair.

October was so nice at the beginning of the month, but now we seem to be drowning. We’ve had everything last week – from rain to snow. It doesn’t seem to want to stop.

Der Bauernkalender mit seinen Regeln sagt: “Wenn am Gallus Regen fällt, er bis Weihnachten anhält. ” Das war der 16. Oktober – na dann – wenn sich das bewahrheitet.

The Farmer’s Almanach in Germany is telling us if rain falls on Gallus day (October 16th), it will stay that way through Christmas. If that’s true .. no telling what’ll happen.

Dennoch gab es schöne Tage und die Bilder will ich euch nicht vorenthalten.
