Beautiful August Sunday

Author: The weather gods are gracious and gave us the most beautiful Sunday. Of course, I took the opportunity to take a walk around the garden to take some pictures. At the moment yellow is the dominant color, though many summer flowers are still in bloom.
Have a nice week! It is back to work for me as of Monday.
Eine schöne Woche wünsch ich euch! Ab Montag bin ich wieder unter dem arbeitenden Volk zu finden.
Dieses Vogelhaus bekam ich von meiner schwedischen Freundin geschenkt. Es wird bald beim schwedenrot gestrichenen Gartenhaus stehen. Für das Bild fand ich die original Dala-Pferdchen passend.
Der Rabe ist auch neu im Garten. Im Moment sitzt er im hinteren Bereich und überschaut alles.
Tagetes vanilla colored. I have had to put them in a pot because the slugs love to eat them.Tagetes Vanille – Ich musste sie in einen Topf pflanzen, da die Nacktschnecken sie lieben.
New decoration I’ve gotten from a garden friend. This used to be used to warm up a cold bed in “old” times.
Neue Gartendeko, die ich von einer Gartenfreundin bekam. So was hat früher mal die Betten gewärmt.

We’re back
Two weeks went by so fast, especially when you are at a place you like so much. As always our summer break took us to Langeoog. Its serenity helps us to relax and slow down.
There are no cars on Langeoog. People use bicycles or horse carriages to get around. Goods are delivered with electric cars and small trucks. Very few exceptions are given to gasoline powered vehicles like the fire department or ambulance service . This alone forces you to take a step back which -for us- happens rather fast.
The weather was beautiful, though a couple of more degrees would have been nice. Except for two days where it rained during the day we were lucky to be able to be out and about daily.
All in all a nice vacation.
I am enlosing a slide show of my favorite pictures and hope you will enjoy them.
Auf Langeoog sind Autos nicht erlaubt. Man bewegt sich mit dem Fahrrad oder mit Pferdenkutschen fort. Waren werden mit elektrisch angetriebenen kleinen Lastwagen verteilt. Es gibt sehr wenige Ausnahmen für normale Autos – wie z. B. der Notarztwagen, Feuerwehr. Schon alleine diese Tatsache zwingt einen, ein langsameres Tempo einzulegen, was uns inzwischen sehr schnell gelingt.
Das Wetter war klasse, auch wenn ein paar Grade mehr schön gewesen wären. Aber bis auf zwei schlechte Tage, an denen es regnete, konnten wir jeden Tag zu Unternehmungen aufbrechen.
Wie immer, war es auch diesmal ein erholsamer Urlaub.

Early this morning
I moved the Bougainville and it seems to like the new spot more.
The Graham Thomas is back.
The flower bed near the patio.
It is really starting to bloom now. / Jetzt kommen die Blüten.
I didn’t think last year that this rose survived. However, this year we had one shoot (?). Now it will be interesting to see whether it survives a winter with snow. / Letztes Jahr glaubte ich noch, dass die Rose nichts wird, aber dieses Jahr hatten wir endlich einen Trieb. Jetzt bin ich mal gespannt, ob sie einen Winter mit Schnee überlebt.
The Eden Rose 85 is starting to bloom again, too. / Die Eden blüht auch wieder.
