ADVENT

Es brennt mit starkem hellen Glanz,
die erste Kerze auf dem Kranz,
sie ist der Glaube, wo er fehlt,

Advent ist da, die Weihnachtszeit.

Spätherbst

Schon mischt sich Rot in der Blätter Grün,
Reseden und Astern sind im Verblühn,
Die Trauben geschnitten, der Hafer gemäht,
Der Herbst ist da, das Jahr wird spät.

Dieser Herbst, der nun zu Ende geht, zeigt uns seine geballte Schönheit dieses Jahr.

Es ist einfach eine Freude, die herrlichen Farben der letzten Blüten zu sehen, ob es nun ein Geranium ist oder die Beeren des Viburnums.

Die Rose Compassion möchte einfach nicht aufhören zu blühen und treibt mit aller Kraft nach oben.

Ich weiss nicht, wie es euch geht, aber ich kann kaum glauben, dass nächsten Monat schon Weihnachten sein soll.

This autumn, which is now coming to an end, is really is beautiful this year.

It is simply a joy to see the beautiful colors of the last blossoms whether it is a geranium or the berries of Viburnum.

The Rose Compassion does not want to stop. It continues to bloom and pushes with all its strength to the top.

I do not know how you feel, but I can hardly believe that we will have Christmas next month.

My favorite November picture / Mein Favorit im November

It is definitely time for politics and Barack Obama in my blog today. This is one time where I will not translate my post in German as it is directed towards my friends and readers in the U.S.A.

Some of you who have known me personally may understand how dear to my heart this election has been to me. I have lived in the U.S. for many, many years and I encompass a special love for this country. My sons who carry  a dual citizenship German-American, but having grown up in the USA, have been watching this election with growing excitement as well.

Not only my American born sons but people in Germany and all over Europe have been observing these past months with great anticipation. Last night the eyes of the world were watching America. I was up until 3 a.m. last night following the progress of the election counts.

One major German political magazine is carrying the headline “The reincarnation of the American dream” this morning. A dream it is and it is truly a sign for our children, my children, that times are changing and most of all that America wants change.

These past years I have been so disappointed watching from “across the ocean” of what was happening in the United States. I’ve always been telling friends who ask me where I prefer to live that I do not prefer one country to the other and that both countries are home to me. However, these past years I have had a difficult time justifying this position in light of the political happenings.

I don’t know what my feelings would have been had these elections turned out differently. It seems as though America has had enough and is ready for a great change. Any other result would have been a great disappointment to me.

It will be a long road ahead for this President and many obstacles in the way but if people give him a chance (and maybe two terms as President ) I am sure he will turn the country around again and help regain the respect it deserves in the world.

Good morning America – you’ve done the “right thing”! (at least in this German blogger’s humble opinion)

We are having an incredibly beautiful fall. The roses seem to enjoy the sunshine and are spoiling us with beautiful blossoms. Interesting how they differ in color from those we got to enjoy during the summer. Anyhow, I couldn’t care less – they ease the transition to the cold weather period which will come sooner than we like it.

Wir haben einen wirklich schönen Herbst dieses Jahr. Die Rosen geniessen auch den Sonnenschein und verwöhnen uns mit einer letzten Blüte. Es ist schon interessant, dass die Blütenfarbe etwas anders als im Sommer ist. Aber es soll mir gleich sein – so wird der Übergang in die kalte Wetterphase einfacher. Denn die kommt schneller als es uns lieb ist.

It just does not seem to get better as far as time for blogging is concerned. Today we had the most beautiful fall weather and I wanted to take the opportunity to get some shots of the garden. It is still pretty colorful out there and I can hardly believe that soon it will be over and we will be waiting for spring to arrive again.

Es wird einfach nicht besser in Bezug auf “Zeit” für meinen Blog. Aber heute hatten wir wirklich wunderbares Wetter und ich habe die Zeit genutzt, ein paar Bilder im Garten zu machen. Er ist noch immer recht farbenfroh und ich kann es kaum glauben, dass schon bald die Zeit wieder kommt, in der wir sehnsüchtig auf den Frühling warten.

I didn’t keep my promise to write regularly, but I have an excuse. Vacation in July on the beautiful island of Langeoog, too many late hours and at times just being too lazy to blog.

Even though this time the weather gods were not kind to us and lots of rain during our first week forced us to stay indoors more than we wanted to, we still enjoyed the time away from home.

We had lots of rain this summer in my part of the world- more than I usually like. Nevertheless, it seems the later part of summer will promise us some nice days.

jetzt habe ich mein Versprechen doch nicht gehalten und nicht regelmässig im Blog geschrieben. Aber ich habe eine gute Entschuldigung.

Urlaub im Juli auf der wunderschönen Insel Langeoog. Diesmal waren die Wettergötter uns nicht gnädig. In der  ersten Woche regnete es häufig. Aber in der zweiten war es dann doch wieder schön.

Ansonsten hatte ich einfach keine Zeit und oft wollte ich die knapp bemessene Freizeit nicht mit Bloggen verbringen. Internetprobleme, die sich über mehrere Wochen hinzogen kamen auch noch dazu. Letztendlich lag es doch an unserer Hardware und nicht der Telekom.

Im Garten ist es herrlich. Es blüht noch sehr viel bei mir. Die Rosen starten wieder durch. Wenn nun der Regen weiter ausbleibt, wäre es wirklich klasse. So hätten wir noch einen schönen Spätsommer in Bayern.

Seems like ages that I have posted, but I really haven’t had much time. Spare time was spent in the garden.

A long drive to and from work and the little time in the evening  I have I like to spend outdoors. Internet was second … even third on my list.

Funny though that some people seem to actually miss my posts and have been kind enough to drop mails when I would post again.  I never thought that so many enjoyed my blog.

Sooooo … here I am with lots of pictures from my garden which you can find in my picture gallery.

Die letzten Wochen habe ich wenig Zeit damit verbracht im Internet zu sein. Ein langer Weg zur Arbeit und wieder nachhause hält mich bei diesem tollen Wetter dann auch abends davon ab, Zeit mit neuen Blogeinträgen zu verbringen.

Ich fand es aber wirklich nett, dass mich einige von euch kontaktiert haben, wann ich denn wieder etwas schreiben würde. Ehrlich gesagt hätte ich nicht gedacht, dass jemand die Einträge vermissen würde.

Geranium “Kendall Clarke”

Today called for another relaxing day and it was great just sitting around in a chair for a while, reading a good book. I must admit though, I am not one of those who can sit for hours. Always on the lookout for weeds in the garden, I may jump up anytime picking it. There is just so much to enjoy at this time of the year. Looking around some other blogs, I could see that roses are blooming. Mine aren’t yet, but I think this coming week, Eden 85 and Leonardo DaVinci will have their showing.

Die gesamte Woche war einfach wunderbar. Auch wenn es an manchen Tagen fast zu heiss war, so ziehe ich Hitze Kälte jederzeit vor.

Heute war wieder ein erholsamer Tag, um die Seele baumeln zu lassen. Einfach draussen sitzen und ein gutes Buch lesen. Allerdings muss ich gestehen, dass ich nicht zu denen gehören, die Stunden lang im Gartenstuhl sitzen bzw. liegen können. Ich schau oft auf und wenn irgendwo ein Unkraut sehe, muss ich es rausreissen.

Bei meinen Besuchen in anderen Blogs konnte ich sehen, dass bei vielen die Rosen schon blühen. Bei mir blühen sie noch nicht, aber diese Woche dürfte es soweit sein. Leonardo DaVinci und Eden85 dürften die ersten sein.

Ansonsten gibt es nicht viel weiter zu erzählen heute. Ich wünsch euch eine schöne Woche.
