Well it is over a month that you wrote this. I am still hopeing that this president will be our answer to our problems…. but there is one thing that troubles me more than anything else. I don’t know that you would share my feelings or not but I am very upset that the people of California passed proposition 8. I feel so let down by my fellow americans.

The United States is our neighbour and if Mr. Obama keeps his word, we are in trouble. Negotiating NAFTA our free trade agreement with the US??
But never mind, I never get involved in politics..because:

It was such a historic and monumental election. I am so happy I was able to be a part of it. Germany being so liberal and on it would of course welcome Barack. Good to hear the headlines. I have also really enjoyed reading all the garden bloggers perspectives on the matter. All positive! I see some of your German readers posted about it too. This election has really affected the world I think. Who would’ve thought? Way back in 2002 was when the seeds were planted, and a dream realized. Ein schones tag heute!

Du hast alles geschrieben, was es momentan zu schreiben und denken gibt.
Ok, gemessen wird Obama an den Taten werden, nicht an den Wahlversprechen, aber ich finde im Vorfeld hat der Wahlausgang rund um die Welt schon zu einem vielfachen Hoffnungs-Seufzer geführt.
Wie heisst es so sinnig: “Die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt” Also seien wir gespannt!!!

Hi Andrea, I just discovered your post about the elections and I totally share your view. I stayed up on Tuesday night and watched Obamas speach crying like a baby. I felt like part of history and it renewed my faith in the American people. He will have his work cut out for him and it will not be easy, but I believe he can handle it.

Thank you! I was glad to find your site and gladder still to read this post. Last night I stayed up late also..I just couldn’t go to bed without knowing. I was just amazed at the amount of interest the rest of world showed in this election..though it seemed that even we Americans took more interest than any other election I’ve seen. At one point..I was terrified that it would go the other way…and I had a terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach. This happened to me twice..2000 and 2004…the 2004 left election left me with very little confidence in the American people. So..I was especially excited to see that we are not idiots after all, and I hope that the rest of the world senses this also. Today, for the first time in a long time..I felt hope in my heart. I believe we are on the right path…finally.
